The responsibilities of the Quality Control Field Representative are to perform site visits and installation of residential HVAC equipment. Site inspections include:
- Checking load calculations developed by the HVAC installer for accuracy and program compliance;
- Duplicating airflow tests to verify HVAC contractor accuracy and program compliance;
- Checking HVAC contractor charging procedure for accuracy and program compliance;
- Verifying contractor documentation of equipment size and energy efficiency.
- Complete and record these inspections in a timely manner.
- Work with KeySpan to identify and select customer visits.
- Provide training (throughout accompanying LIPA in-house personnel during customer site visits) to train LIPA personnel in conducting consultations such as those done through the program.
- Notify HVAC contractors by telephone or in person of inspection results and review any discrepancies in selection/installation process for the HVAC equipment that resulted in non-compliant equipment or installation.
- Work with HVAC contractor to correct installation and/or equipment discrepancies under the program.
- Visit distributions and contractors to market the program.
- Work on incorporation of additional quality control components into the inspection program.
- Identify any deceptive, unethical or other non-standard business practices that may violate the program participation agreement or other standards for program partner behavior.
The Quality Control staff incumbent's mission is to provide protection to the job and to its customers as a first priority, without any actual or apparent conflict of interest. The incumbent will provide needed feedback to the relevant program staff to target corrective action. Retraining contractors and providing clarification of program guidelines is a secondary priority, albeit one that is important to the success of the program.
